BioAdvanced 24-Hour Grub Killer Plus is the go-to curative grub product for active infestations. Unlike preventive products (GrubEx), this kills grubs that are already feeding on your grass roots.
How It Works
Trichlorfon (the active ingredient in Dylox) is a fast-acting contact insecticide that kills grubs within 24 hours of contact. It works on all stages of white grub larvae and is effective on actively feeding populations.
When to Use
Use when you discover active grub damage: brown patches of turf that peel up easily like carpet, revealing white C-shaped grubs in the soil beneath. Typically needed in late summer through fall (August-October) when grubs are largest and most damaging. Soil temperature must be above 50°F for grubs to be active and near the surface.
Application
Apply granules and water in heavily (at least 0.5 inches) to move the product into the root zone where grubs are feeding. The product must contact the grubs to work — thorough watering is essential.
Follow Up
After treating an active infestation, overseed damaged areas in fall and apply preventive GrubEx (chlorantraniliprole) the following spring/early summer at GDD 300-500 to prevent reinfestation.
